COVID-19

How we are training

During the pandemic, we were still training hard, together but from afar! Thankfully, with technology, we were able to stay in touch as a team and conduct workouts together to keep each other motivated and accountable. We kept everyone in competitive shape while having some fun with it. Luckily, many of our members had access to their own SUP’s, OC’s & Surfski’s allowing us to paddle and do time trials. With zoom, we conducted weekly workouts as a team to stay in touch and keep in shape.

This season, dragon boat is going back to normal! We are training regularly in person and following health guidelines.

Do NOT come to practice if:

– You are sick.  This applies to all communicable illnesses (flu, common cold, etc.) and shall continue to apply even after the COVID-19 crisis is over. In all team activities, we are in close proximity to each other and often sharing the same equipment, therefore if you are sick and contagious, stay home.  Full stop.
– You have any flu or cold-like symptoms
– You have come in close contact with someone who is known to have COVID-19.
– You have come in close contact with someone who does not have COVID-19, but was exposed to someone with COVID19.  According to TPH, such individuals need to take no further action aside from monitoring themselves.  However, out of an abundance of caution for our team, please do not attend practice if this applies to you. 

Additionally, if the following applies to you you MAY decide not to attend practice:

– You are immune-compromised and cannot tolerate any risk of exposure.
– You are in frequent contact with elderly or immune-compromised persons at work or in your personal life, and they cannot tolerate any risk of exposure.
– The fear of contracting COVID-19 is a detriment to your mental health.  If you have already significantly curtailed your public activities in fear of COVID-19, and going to practice will cause you undue mental stress, then you could be better off not attending practice.
