Roster Selection

“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” – Phil Jackson

NDRC is about teamwork, building strength and most importantly creating a family. We make goals to achieve them together as a team, but it cannot happen without the whole team working towards it together. We choose our rosters based on a number of things: Cardio, Strength, Paddling, & Attitude/Attendance. We believe each of those aspects are important and we strive to be better each year.

The tryout period begins at the end of the water season, usually around August or September, and runs through to the end of January. During this time, athletes participate in evaluations, training sessions, and team activities. Final team selections are made at the end of January based on performance, commitment, and overall fit with the team.

Strength

This typically involves a 1 RM bench test and max pull up test, supervised closely by our vets and coaches to ensure reps are clean and fair.

Paddling

This typically involves the Paddle Erg in the following tests: 15sec sprint, and 2:00min and 4:00min test for distance.

We also have time trials in the summer time on the Outrigger Canoe for 150m distance and 330m distance.

Cardio

This typically involves a 6 min treadmill run or a 3km outdoor run.

Attitude & Attendance

We want people that are committed and have the willingness to learn and grow with us. We have fun but we also know when to bring the hammer. Our members give it their 110% and we look for people that have the same mindset.
